The new reven home page. Focus on web design, hosting, search engine optimisation (SEO), and web applications. Built using PHP5, AJAX, jQuery, CSS, CodeIgniter and MySQL

The new reven web design home page, first written in asp.net webforms, then rewritten into PHP with CodeIgniter MVC and finally rewritten once again into PHP and WordPress.

We originally had a ASP.net Host so that’s why the original version was written in ASP.net.  Then we switched to a Linux host and converted 0ur website to PHP using CodeIgniter (we managed to do a rush job in 3 days).  But since we needed power and flexibility and we didn’t want to reinvent the wheel (well I kind of did) we decided to utilise WordPress as our CMS and just make reven.co.nz a theme for WordPress and create the plugins we needed to make the website look and feel how we wanted.

By switching to WordPress and creating plugins for it, we can easily reuse these (mostly the speed tweaks) to improve client websites and give them full CMS abilities.
